GRANOR Elastomeric Bearings

Elastomeric bearings excel at accommodating thermal expansion – contraction, and overall movement in building, infrastructure, and construction projects. They are commonly used as expansion and slide bearings for buildings or structures, providing support for point loads while allowing multi-directional movement and rotation. These bearings facilitate the transmission of vertical forces, horizontal movements, and structural rotation in any direction, all within defined limits.

BS – Bearings are unreinforced elastomeric pads and strips, available in a standard hardness of 60 IRHD Durometer, designed to meet AS.5100.4 standards.

BS pads and strips allow for the connection of uneven surfaces, compressive loads, shear movement and rotation. BS bearings will work within a range on -20°C to +80°C with no significant variation in performance.

ELBs – Elastomeric Laminated Bearings are elastomers with encapsulated layers of internal steel reinforcing plates. They are specifically designed for use in bridge and building construction, such as under pre-cast concrete beams, steel beam supports, and other support points. These bearings effectively allow long expansive structures to move independently of their supports, accommodating structural movement with ease.

GRANOR “Series B” Structural Slide Bearings utilize GRAFAB®, a fabric-reinforced elastomeric pad as the base, with GRAFLON® PTFE bonded to the top surface. The GRAFLON® PTFE slides against a polished stainless-steel pad, providing a smooth low-friction sliding surface. Unlike conventional elastomeric bearing pads, the GRAFAB® pad can handle much higher stress without exhibiting deformation that is typical of plain bearing pads under high stress. The use of GRAFAB® results in a robust, resilient pad, making it ideal for simple structural bearings with typical applications in pedestrian overpasses, small bridges, and other lightly loaded structures.
