Our range of standard plastic materials are referred to as commodity plastics. These materials are either amorphous or semi-crystalline thermoplastics which are generally low cost, have low temperature resistance, low strength, but are widely used across many New Zealand industries in applications up to 90°C. Our range encompasses different thicknesses and colours of UHMWPE, HMWPE, HDPE, LDPE, PVC, ABS, PPE, Acrylic, Polyurethane and Polypropylene.
UHMWPE Premium is our superior abrasion resistant grade of ultra high molecular weight polyethylene. Enhanced with silicone (XLS) for release and slip, or with glass (GXL) for unparalleled wear resistance. XL grades are crosslinked and UV stabilised.
UHMWPE Virgin - the world’s toughest polymer. Chemically resistant, low coefficient of friction, high abrasion and impact resistance makes this a highly effective material in a variety of applications. FDA approved for food contact.
UHMWPE Reprocessed or recycled grade uses finely ground post-production material to produce an economical substitute to using 100% virgin resin. Technical properties will be reduced from virgin material although hardness may be slightly increased.
HMWPE PE500 is a general purpose polyethylene with excellent mechanical properties suitable to less demanding applications that would otherwise require UHMWPE. Widely used in the New Zealand food industry.
HDPE PE300 has approximately 6% of the impact strength and only 25% of its abrasion resistance of UHMWPE. HDPE has a higher tensile strength and is the hardest material of the two. Can be supplied with a glossy or embossed finish.
Polypropylene offers a good balance of thermal, chemical and electrical properties with moderate strength. Available as either copolymer or homopolymer. A cost effective material suitable to a wide range of applications.
Rigid PVC is a low cost material that offers excellent strength to weight ratio, chemical and flame resistance, is rigid and durable, solvent cementable and with excellent electrical insulation makes it a very versatile engineering material.
Acrylic PMMA is a strong, stable, weather resistant thermoformable plastic. Sheets are available in transparent, translucent, and opaque colours, as well as a variety of surface textures. Also known as Perspex®.
ABS offers a good balance of mechanical, chemical and electrical characteristics. Impact properties are also exceptionally good at room temperature. Able to be bonded and welded.
PPE plastic exhibits unusually low moisture absorption. Good electrical insulating properties are achieved over a wide range of humidity and temperature conditions. Chemical attack from water, most salt solutions, acids and bases is also minimal.
Polyurethane offers exceptional physical properties such as, toughness, flexibility and resistance to abrasion, temperature, puncture and tearing. Grades from 50A to 75D. PU combines the toughness of metal with the elasticity of rubber.
